Between Tides: Poetics of Form and Coastal Narratives, the inaugural exhibition of Mingyuan Museum's East Coast venue in Shantou, Guangdong province, celebrates the richness and vigor of two regional cultures in close association with the country's maritime culture.

The exhibition, running until Jan 11, gathers dozens of artists from Shanghai, the home of Mingyuan Museum, and Guangdong province. With Shanghai on the country's eastern coastline and Guangdong province down the southern coastline, both face the Pacific and have contributed to the country's maritime history and exchanges with the world.

The maritime explorations and the diverse cultures they nurtured form the backdrop of the exhibition, where artists draw on regional history and collective experiences to examine the relationship between the individual and the collective, and between national perspectives and global visions.
