The Hitachi Chemical (Nantong) Co began it s film operations last week in the Nantong development area of the city of Nantong, Jiangsu province, while the SKC (Jiangsu) High-tech Plastics Co began its pilot production of film there,Nantong government has reported. This is a new material wide for use in high-tech items. The Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area has tried hard to introduce enterprises and had developed a film industry cluster worth around 10 billion yuan.

The film is used for LCD panels, photovoltaic cells, sewage treatment, and plastic packaging. Hitachi Chemical (Nantong) Co, a subsidiary of Japan's Hitachi Group, will focus on anisotropic conductive films in the second phase of the project.

South Korea's SKC Co, a member of the SK Group, has joined Japanese investors in SKC (Jiangsu) High-tech Plastics, with a total of $300 million and registered capital of $150 million. The company will produce top thermal contraction film for packaging.
