As an iconic regatta of Qingdao International Sailing Week, "Mayor's Cup" Qingdao International Sailing Regatta (Weihai - Qingdao) 2011, sponsored by General Administration of Sport of China, Qingdao Municipal Government and Weihai Municipal Government set off on September 2 in Weihai. There were 15 teams from five countries sailed to Weihai from Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center.

This regatta lasts for three days and divides into two groups – unified design group and open group. 138 players of 15 teams will join in this regatta. Ten teams in the unified design group will be provided the Beneteau First 40 sailboat. The other five teams will compete by their own keel sailboat, the length of which is more than 36 feet.

The champion of each group will be determined through rally racing and track racing.
