Jilin province's Liuding Mountain has gotten top national scenic spot billing from the National Tourism Administration for its unique combination of history, religion and landscape, as of Nov 6.

The scenic spot is the place where its royal tombs from the Bohai Kingdom of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), ancestral temples, and its tall seated Shakyamuni statue locate.

The Liuding Mountain scenic spot has administrators say they have given a lot of attention to infrastructure and brand building in recent years, the number of tourists reaching 800,000 last year and expected to reach 1 million this year.

The head of the scenic spot management, Han Ximing, explains, "We aim to build more resorts to make good use of our unique natural and historic resources. We're also putting greater emphasis on packaging our travel products to attract more tourists."

The scenic spot is a home of Buddhist culture and in the Nov 6 - Dec 6 period, all admission is free.
