Fast track to greatly reduce travel times

The high-speed rail line from Shanghai to Kunming, the country's longest east-west rail line, is expected to be completed by early 2016, cutting transit time for passengers from Guiyang, Guizhou province, to Kunming, Yunnan province, to just two hours, Guizhou City Daily reported on Friday. With completion of the segment connecting Guiyang to Changsha, Hunan province, scheduled for May 2015, a trip between Guiyang and Beijing or Shanghai will take seven hours.
