On July 11, eight leading web media – Caixin.com, Ctrip, Tuniu.com, Travel+, uzai.com, Baidu Travel, Travel 163 and Lonely Planet – published the World Top Ten Ecological Travel Destinations and China’s Top Ten Ecological Travel Destinations during the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference in Guiyang 2014.

China's Top Ten Ecological Travel Destinations on the list are: Jiuzhaigou Valley in Sichuan province, Changbai Mountain in Jilin province, Qiandao Lake in Zhejiang province, Qinghai Lake in Qinghai province, Wuyi Mountain in Fujian province, Namtso Lake in Tibet, Shangri-la National Park in Yunnan province, Fanjing Mountain in Guizhou province, Shennongjia in Hubei province and Shahu Lake in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
In addition, the World's Top Ten Ecological Travel Destinations are: Great Barrier Reef of Australia, Iguazu Falls in Brazil, Yellowstone National Park in the United Sates, the Maldives, the Jungfrau in Switzerland, Rocky mountains of Canada, Hakone Hot Spring Resort in Japan, Okavango Delta of Botswana, Taiwan’s East Coast and the Pyrenees in France.
These destinations are selected from 30 candidate countries according to the number of votes online, statistics of online bookings and a professional review.
One of the selection's organizers, an official from the Caixin media said, the development and protection of ecological tourism is a balanced process. Tourists, as the major body of the tourism industry, should take the responsibility to maintain its sustainable development.
