The number of firms in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone with overseas direct investment reached 100 by Sept 14, according to statistics from the Fujian Provincial Administration of Industry and Commerce.

These firms received $836 million in total investments and $389 million in registered capital, with $277 million coming from overseas investors, Fujian Daily reported Sunday.

In the three years after its establishment, the zone has added 75 firms with foreign direct investment, 62 of which are financed by Taiwan firms, accounting for 82.67 percent of the total.

In the past three years, the zone has seen additional investment of $736 million and additional registered capital of $333 million from overseas investors.
