Yang Yue, the Party chief of Fuzhou, Fujian province, met with a delegation from the Third Wednesday Club, the largest social enterprise coalition in Taiwan, on April 15, the Fuzhou Daily reported.

The delegation was headed by the club chairman Chiang Pin-kung, the former chairman of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation.

Welcoming the delegation, Yang praised the contribution made by the club's member enterprises to Fujian economy.

As the nearest provincial capital of the Chinese mainland to Taiwan, Fuzhou has enjoyed sound development in recent years and also benefited from considerable opportunities brought by the Road and Belt Initiatives and the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Yang said.

He also promised that the government would continue to support the cross-Straits cooperation and the development of Taiwan enterprises in the city.

Chiang expressed his surprise by the city’s development pace and hoped that visit could contribute to more economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

Established in 1990, the Third Wednesday Club is the largest and richest social enterprise association in Taiwan. The total business turnover of its member enterprises accounts for about 60 percent of Taiwan’s GDP.
