Fuzhou city has won an award for communication and cooperation with overseas cities at the 2014 China International Friendship Cities Conference.

The award is a top honor in China to commend cities making outstanding efforts in communications with their overseas sister cities.

Fuzhou has 9 sister cities across the world, namely Nagasaki (Japan), Naha (Japan), Syracuse (US), Tacoma (US), Campinas (Brazil), Shoalhaven (Australia), Georgetown (Guyana), Koszalin (Poland) and Mombasa (Kenya), according to the website of the Fuzhou municipal Government.

The biannual conference was co-organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China International Friendship Cities Association.
