"The Seventh Spring under Heaven"

The spring is well known for its beautiful environment. It used to be called White Turtle Spring. The legend goes that a white turtle came from the spring in the reign of Emperor Xuanzong (785-804) of the Tang Dynasty, hence the name. In 1092, the seventh year of the Yuanyou reign of the Song Dynasty, Su Dongpo (1037-1101), a famous poet and literati, and his sons Su Dai and Su Guo passed by the spring en route from Henan to Hangzhou. Surprised by the marvelous spring, he wrote a poem entitled "Travel Notes of Tushan and Jingshan Mountains." Because the spring water tastes sweet and has a milky white color, people later called it White Milk Spring.
