A dead wild bird lies on the dry lake Koronia some 550 km (344 miles) north of Athens September 20, 2007 after a sudden rainstorm. A dramatic drop in the lake's water level, supported by increased pollution, has created conditions which triggered epizootic outbreaks, leading to a high death rate in fish and birds in the area, local media and environment experts said.
