Jessica Simpson recently celebrated her 26th birthday -- and finalized divorce -- with close friends and family in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The singer, who celebrated her 26th birthday on Monday (10 July), was snapped at soaking in the sun at a private residence wearing a bikini, cowboy hat, oversized sunglasses, and a towel.

Simpson said that though she loved her body, she was shy about putting it on display.

"I love my body. I'm just not one to show off. I'm shy about it," TMZ.com quoted her, as saying.

"There's something very empowering about curves. You can't strut your stuff when you're skinny," she added.

People magazine reported that this year's birthday celebration for the singer varied greatly from her elaborate party last year, which featured over 150 revelers including her now ex-husband, Nick Lachey.

Simpson is also scheduled to be the host of the 2006 Teen Choice Awards on Aug. 20, which will likely feature appearances by award nominees Lachey and his current girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo.
