Hebei (Hong Kong) Trade Talks
Hebei (Hong Kong) Investment and Trade Talks, sponsored by Hebei government, is held in Hong Kong every two years. To Hebei, Hong Kong has always been a bridge to and a window on the world, therefore, Hebei government places much emphasis on the investment talks held in Hong Kong. The 2002 Hebei (Hong Kong) Investment Trade Talks was held during March 20-24 2002. Major officials of the province and of 11 cities of Hebei led delegations to the talks. The talks displayed over 1,340 kinds of products in 16 categories from 293 enterprises. Contracts signed valued at US$ 67.5 million, mainly in textile, garments, medicine, light industry, arts and crafts, food, oil and metals. During the talk, 77 overseas-funded projects were signed using US$464 million of total foreign capitals and US$305 million of contractual investment. The talks were mainly about agricultural industrialization, fundamental industry, infrastructure, key industries, trade service, environmental protection, tourism, new and high technology. Different cities also organized trade talks of their own. For example, there was the China Chengde (Hong Kong) Tourism Talks, and the county economic talks for Anguo, Rongcheng, Zhuozhou and Lixian counties organized by Baoding. During the talks, 6 industrial trade meetings were opened and a number of contracts of intention were signed, including the Baoding-Tianjin Expressway Project. The expressway project cost 2.6 billion yuan of total investment and was signed between the Hebei Highway Development Co. and the Hong Kong Lujin Basic Construction Co. Ltd. Talks were held on a number of tourism projects and products. |
