Li Lu and her nine-year-old brother had found it hard to study at their not-so-spacious home after their parents started playing mahjong last November. The games sometimes lasted the whole night. Li had tried to persuade her parents to stop and sought help from her teachers, but to no avail; however, once the story was reported, Li was promised by her mother that the games would stop.
