Internet payment system raises efficiency of customs
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2004-04-04 10:24

Customs of north China's Tianjin Municipality has begun using an Internet payment system, making foreign trade easier.

Agreements with Tianjin branches of Bank of China and Industrial & Commercial Bank were signed Thursday.

The system connects the customs network with Tianjin's banking system, replacing the traditional counter payment with an electronic system.

Huang Shengqiang, commissioner of Tianjin Customs, said that in the future enterprises would not have to pay taxes at special counters when their goods needed to pass the customs.

"All have to do is to link their computers with the customs' and then click the mouse", said Huang.

The Internet payment system would save time for the enterprises while raising Customs' efficiency, he said.
