The Ishiguro Dance Theatre of Japan will stage the modern Japanese dance drama "Hikaru Genji," or "Bright Light of Love," on October 29 and 30 at Shanghai Grand Theatre, to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between Japan and China.

Choreographed and directed by Ishiguro Setsuko, also founder of the dance theatre, the dance drama is based on an ancient Japanese tale of romance.

Major performers in "Hikaru Genji" include Chinese ballet dancer Huang Kai, who currently lives in Japan, and Japanese ballerina Adachi Etsuko.

Ishiguro Setsuko's dance group has performed its original dance dramas worldwide. Her acclaimed dance drama "White Animals" was staged in London and Paris in 2000.
