MBA courses going green-friendly

Thirteen Chinese universities have added courses on environmental protection
to their Masters of Business Administration courses, according to the 3rd
International Conference on Environment and Business Education held at Fudan
University yesterday.
This is the first time for the annual conference to be sponsored by a local
university since the Business Environment Learning and Leadership Program was
introduced into China in 2000.
Thirteen universities, including Fudan, Qinghua and Beijing universities, are
among the first batch of Chinese universities to add environmental protection
courses to their MBA programs.
The first national textbook on MBA environmental management is also being
compiled by the National MBA Supervisory Committee.
"The new module was added to raise awareness of environ-mental protection
among top-level managers," said Zhu Daoli, director of the Manage-ment Science
Department at Fudan.
Chinese companies used to have a reputation for paying little attention to
the environment, but some have noticed that many foreign companies have made
huge profits by employing recycling technology, said Zhu Dajian, professor at
Tongji University.
