Parents attend course on sex

Thousands of parents attended a training course on sexual education on
Sunday, reports Beijing Morning Post.
"Last year, a 10-year-old girl had an abortion," Chen Yijun, director of the
China Youth Sexual Education Association, told the course attendees. Chen
repeatedly stressed that parents rather than schools should be the primary
source of information about sex for their children.
Several more cases of teenage pregnancy were cited during the course,
including that of a 17-year-old girl who gave birth to a baby and then threw the
child out of a window to its death. She is now serving a three-year prison
sentence.
The sex education courses students receive at school are far from enough. If
parents fail to guide their children, more problems will arise, Chen
said.
