Hotline serves divorced couples

A "remarriage hotline" - 5696
7711 - the first of its kind in the city, began accepting calls yesterday,
reports Shanghai Evening Post.
"We hope to serve as a bridge between divorced partners," said Li, the line's
manager.
"Many couples experience extreme emotional stress when they go through a
divorce. But afterwards they may discover that they still feel attached to each
other in certain respects."
Usually, these couples are too shy to talk to one other directly, which is a
pity, Li said.
According to statistics released by the Shanghai Municipal Civil Affairs
Bureau, 1,929 couples have remarried each other this year, an increase of 6.92
per cent over 2002.
