Research program devoted to work safety

China's prestigious Tsinghua University and the internationally known Liberty Mutual Insurance Group announced in Beijing on Sunday that they will launch a joint research programme on occupational safety in China.

The programme will be dedicated to researching the human aspects of occupational safety in China and to reducing occupational injuries. The results of the research will be published worldwide.

World-renowned experts on occupational safety will be involved in the programme, which both Tsinghua and Liberty Mutual believe will contribute significantly to preventing the financial and social burdens associated with occupational injuries in China.

The joint programme will place Tsinghua University on the leading edge of global occupational safety development, said Guo Zengyuan, director of the university's Mechanical Engineering School.

John Kimber, managing director of China Development at Liberty Mutual, said China will become a centre for world economic growth, and carrying out safety research in China will also benefit many other countries and regions.
