Beijing Olympic Games organizing committee to be formed next month

The Organizing Committee of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will come into existence and start to world in December, Beijing mayor Lui Qi said on Thursday.

The target and mission for the Organizing Committee of the Beijing Games is to build the world largest sports gala into the best games in the Olympic history, according to Lui Qi.

But the Mayor, who led the Beijing's bidding committee to Moscow and won the right to host the games in July 13, stressed that Beijing would respect and follow the suggestion of the International Olympic Committee to control the size and investigation of the current over-sized Olympic Games.

"The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will be the best in quality rather than in size." said Mayor Liu Qi. And Beijing would invite public bidding for most of its Olympic construction projects to both domestic and overseas investors.

Only a week after China entered the World Trade Organization, the Mayor of the China's capital city said that Beijing always welcome the supports of technical and financial for the Beijing Olympic Games.

Beijing would also learn from Sydney and other Olympic host cities to better and perfect its Olympic Games' plan and organization, Liu Qi added.
