To optimize the province's industrial structure, Shanxi is increasing its cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and with the Institute of Science and Development under the CAS, with an agreement signed in Shanxi on Dec 6.
The two sides will establish a special partnership fund and a group to research Shanxi's technological and industrial development.
Based on domestic trends in technological and industrial reform and the province's demand for socioeconomic development, the group will offer intellectual support for local emerging industries by conducting strategic research, policy analysis, and consultations.
During the 13th Five Year Plan period (2016-2020), the group will publish reports each year about the development trends of various industries and science and technology in Shanxi, and occasionally conduct monographic studies in related key areas.
Shanxi has been cooperating with the CAS since 2000 in many areas, with 113 joint programs in Shanxi, 37 of which had generated almost 5 billion yuan ($756.66 million) in sales by the end of 2016.
