AkzoNobel NV, a leading Dutch multinational that makes paints, coatings and specialty chemicals, will continue to sharpen its competitive edge by adopting a strategy of safety and sustainability in the Chinese market, said a senior executive.

Andre Veneman, AkzoNobel's corporate director for sustainability & health, safety and environment said that the company would share its experience and expertise with its local partners and communities as it grows in China when he visited one of the company's plants in Tianjin over the weekend.

"With Asia, especially China, upgrading its manufacturing industry protocols, innovative solutions with strong sustainability features will be key to future success," said Lin Liangqi, president of AkzoNobel China, during the opening ceremony of the AkzoNobel technology center in Shanghai.
