The mobile phone industry has been establishing itself as a serious Internet access provider based on its unique mobility, increasingly powerful functions and low cost.

But steep charges, low connection speed and a lack of useful information are major obstacles.

According to the CNNIC's latest statistics, the number of people who access the Internet via mobile phones at least once a week reached 17 million in 2006, accounting for 12.4 percent of all Internet users in China.
