GUANGZHOU - Two officials from South China's Guangdong province have been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for serious violation of discipline, the provincial discipline watchdog said in a statement on Monday.
Investigations found that Li Yongheng, former director of the Guangdong Provincial Office of the State Administration of Taxation, and Wu Zhouchun, former general manager of Guangdong Power Grid Corporation under the China Southern Power Grid, abused their power to seek profits for others and accepted bribes, said the statement.
Both Li and Wu have "seriously violated discipline" and are suspected of committing crimes, according to the statement. They will be handed over to judiciary, it added.
Li Yongheng was put under investigation for serious violation of discipline in December 2013, while Wu Zhouchun was probed two months later.
