A knife attack at a Shanghai hospital on Friday has left three doctors injured and comes amid increasing concerns about doctor-patient tensions in Chinese hospitals.

The suspect, a Shanghai native, was taken away by police five minutes after the incident which occurred at the 5th People's Hospital of Shanghai at around 10:40 am, CCTV reported on its official Sina Weibo account, a popular microblogging site in China.

The authorities did not reveal the suspect's name, but CCTV said that the suspect was discharged from the hospital on Monday after treatment for lymph cancer.

The three injured doctors are in stable condition.
