The public is satisfied with the improvements in the conduct of Party members and government officials, which includes less recreational activities using public funds and more self-discipline in turning down gifts during Spring Festival, according to a recent survey by Canton Public Opinion Research Center.
Among the 1,500 residents in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou who participated in the poll in February, 72 percent say that they saw fewer recreational activities using public funds and 50 percent say that fewer Party members and government officials received gifts.
Meanwhile, 83 percent of those polled believe that more people celebrated Spring Festival this year more frugally than in previous years, and 76 percent believe this is a result of the improvements in the conduct of Party members and government officials.
More than half of those polled say that they saw less gift giving and less lavish meals during Spring Festival.
