A large family in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, which has 21 members covering three generations has offered 100,000 yuan ($16,490) for the birth of its first baby girl, Jinling Evening News reported on Friday.

All those born into the family have been male, and it now has 11 male family members, all surnamed Jiang. The females in the family have all married in.

During Spring Festival, the family elders told the younger members that any who give birth to a girl will be rewarded with 100,000 yuan. A young wife in the family is two months pregnant and the family hopes she will give birth to the first girl born into the family.
