BEIJING - China's top anticorruption body on Thursday opened its website for tips off of those suspected of buying New Year gifts with public funds.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Ministry of Supervision, said they welcomed reports of those suspected discipline violation, promising reports would be dealt with quickly and investigations fair.

The new facility was given the most prominent place in the front page of the official website. People can click a link to make a report and read news of other ongoing situations.

The move came after a November 21 notice from the CCDI, which banned all government departments, public institutions and state-owned enterprises from purchasing New Year gifts with public funds.

The notice urged disciplinary bodies at all levels to strengthen supervision, investigate violations quickly and report back to the public at the earliest opportunity.

China's anticorruption forces have introduced numerous measures to strengthen their hand, including special attention to major festivals.

Prior to the seven days of National Day holidays and the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival in September and October, the CCDI and Ministry of Supervision opened a similar webpage and received 917 reports through it.

The violations have been investigated and dealt with by the departments concerned, with some exemplary cases being reported to the public.
