A two-day conference in Shanghai for business leaders and senior executives in the oil and gas markets focused on expanding free trade and encouraging green energy.

“Countries including China are facing opportunities and challenges in the oil and gas markets,” said Wang Shouwen, assistant minister of the Ministry of Commerce. “We have to work together and push globally for greener, more efficient and more sustainable outcomes.”

The gathering on Wednesday and Thursday was part of the 2nd China International Oil and Gas Trade Congress sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai municipal government.

Titled Influence of Energy Revolution on Oil and Gas Trade Patterns, the conference provided an opportunity to flesh out hot issues.

“China will speed up reform in energy development to meet the global trend toward clean, diverse, intense and highly efficient energy, and will gradually expand cooperation with global partners,” Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng said at the meeting.

The congress aims to provide a summit platform for communication, cooperation and common success in the energy industry. Attendees from China and abroad talked about markets, pricing mechanisms and other shared concerns.
