CPPCC leaders discuss expelling corrupted official

Xinhua | Updated: 2013-09-19 14:10

BEIJING - Chairman and vice chairpersons of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) discussed a motion to expel a corrupted official at a meeting Wednesday.

The meeting discussed the motion of removing Wang Suyi, former senior official of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, from his post as a national political advisor and decided to submit it for the reading of the third meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, said a statement issued Thursday.

Wang was also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and head of the United Front Work Department of the regional Party committee.

Early this month, he was expelled from the CPC and dismissed from public office, after being investigated for serious discipline violations.

According to investigations by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), Wang took advantage of his position to seek benefit for others and accepted a huge amount of money and property either personally or through his family members.

The meeting also approved an amendment to its own working protocol as well as documents on how vice chairpersons supervise special committees and how the national political advisory body holds bi-weekly consultation sessions.

The meeting was presided over by Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
