BERLIN - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's attendance at the Hannover Industrial Fair will add new momentum to China-Germany ties, the Chinese ambassador to Germany said.

In a recent interview with Xinhua, Ambassador Wu Hongbo said Wen would meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel during his visit.

"The fact that Wen will meet Merkel just two months after he received her in Beijing in February shows the importance and maturity of China-German strategic partnership," Wu said.

Both Wen and Merkel will attend the fair, scheduled for April 23-27, and address the opening ceremony, Wu said.

The ambassador said China is the partner country at the fair for the second time, having first filled the role in 1987.

This year marked the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and China, Wu said. Through participation at this year's Hannover fair, China hopes to push forward cooperation with Germany in various sectors to achieve a more healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.

Themed "Green & Intelligence," China's exhibition at this year's fair fits in perfectly with the fair's theme "greentelligence," Wu said.

The fair gave China and Germany a good opportunity to learn from each other on developing a green economy, as Germany had abundant success in this field and China, a developing country undergoing economic restructuring, needed to draw on the successful experiences of other advanced economies to develop its green economy, Wu said.

Meanwhile, China's reform also offered an enormous market to the rest of the world, Wu said.

The ambassador said he believed, through the platform of the fair, Chinese enterprises could demonstrate their achievements made during the nation's reform and opening-up and keep themselves abreast of the latest development and experiences in various industrial fields.

By communicating and cooperating with their foreign colleagues and making consistent efforts in innovation, Chinese enterprises would make a new contribution to China's economic development, Wu said.
