China should promote fiscal and tax reform, Li Jinhua, former auditor general of the National Audit Office, said on Wednesday during the ongoing plenary session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

"While China's GDP experiences single-digit growth, its fiscal revenue shows double-digit growth. This phenomenon disturbs me," Li said.

"The central government should decentralize the control of fiscal revenue. Otherwise, local governments will find other ways to raise money, including selling land," he said.
