There are plentiful resources in Jining that is an important base of cereal, cotton, oil and characteristic agricultural products. Jining also has more than 70 kinds of mineral resources including coal, limestone, gypsum, barite, rare earth, phosphate rock, coke, copper, and lead, etc., in which coal has the central place with 26 billion ton coal reserves, accounting for 50 percent of the total number of Shandong province，and therefore has been constructed to be one of the thirteen national coal energy bases, one of the seven national new planning coal chemical industrial production bases and the state-level production base for machinery manufacture, biological technology, new textile materials and special purpose vehicles. Moreover large numbers of key enterprises such as Yanzhou Mining Group, Sun Paper Group and Lukang Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd have reached advanced national level.
