A 13-year-old girl jumped to her death from the 7th floor of a building after leaving a note saying she could no longer bear the violence at home, Qilu Evening News reported.

Sun Zhengwen had just finished her first year of middle school in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong province. A classmate, Su Su, confirmed that students and teachers knew that Sun was often abused by her parents.

Sun’s father slapped her in the face once when she couldn't answer a geography question, and he slapped her again when the girl complained that she almost lost her hearing, said another classmate, Su.

In the last final examination, she ranked about 20th in her class. On July 1, when the school held a parents meeting before the summer vacation, Sun changed her screen name on instant messaging software QQ into, "I will not die on the night of parents meeting day." One day later, she changed her nickname to, "I will disappear for a while."

In the note posted on an online forum in Qingdao, Sun listed the abuses she suffered, including frequent verbal abuses, humiliation, and physical assaults. The note also said her parents checked her bags and letters, depriving her of privacy.

"Mum, do you remember that you forced me to kneel on the ground for one night only because I didn’t finish the assignment early? … Father, you beat me black and blue, dragged me like a dead dog.”

Local police are still investigating the case.
