LHASA - Authorities in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region have vowed to create job opportunities for all college graduates this year, a move rarely seen among other Chinese provinces.

Actually, it is not the first time that local authorities have made such a pledge. Last year, the employment rate of college graduates in Tibet reached almost 100 percent, as 12,322 students of the total 12,407 graduates found work.

"We will continue to create more opportunities for them, and strive to help every graduate find a job," Yao Ruifeng, director of the Tibet Regional Human Resources and Social Security Department.

Yao said local government will increase the number of civil service openings and encourage graduates to go outside Tibet to find work in inland provinces.

The number of college graduates in Tibet is expected to hit 13,000 this year.

Tibet's impressive proportion of college graduates in work last year, compared to an average of 84 percent from 2006 to 2010, was the result of the Tibetan government's ramped-up efforts to expand the employment market for educated young people.

Last year, the government started to offer cash incentives to graduates who were employed by private businesses and promised to reimburse university fees or write off student loans for graduates who work in the private sector for more than five years, officials said.
