China's efforts on Korean Peninsula peace keeping lauded

Neighbors in the region appreciated China's efforts in regional security and international assistance on Saturday in bilateral meetings with Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie at the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue.
Kim Kwan Jin, Minister of National Defense, Republic of Korea highly appreciated China's works on maintaining the stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula, and thanked China's help in protecting their merchant ships in waters off Somali from pirates' attack this February.
Japanese Defense Minister Toshimi Kitazawa and Wayne Mapp, Minister of Defense of New Zealand both thanked China for its timely aids to the countries when they suffered from serious earthquakes earlier this year.
Liang also met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov, who is in charge of the country's national defense affairs and military industries.
