Over 100 graduates work as chengguan in Anhui

101 college graduates are working as urban management officers (chengguan), patrolling on 40 streets in Hefei, capital of East China Anhui province. 90 of them have a bachelor's degree and 11 are postgraduates majoring in law, computer science, urban planning, advertising, and public service.

The Hefei Urban Administrative Bureau put recruitment posters on major websites of the province in February. All applicants without a bachelor's degree were rejected in the first round and 3,000 applicants got the chance for paper examination.

"Our original intention was to improve the quality of chengguan so that chengguan will enforce the laws and regulations in a more rational way," Qian Xin, publicity director at the bureau, told China Daily Monday.
