LONDON -- Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China Donald Tsang started his three-day visit to Britain on Tuesday on his way to attend the 16th APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Economic Leaders' Informal Meeting in Peru on November 22-23.

On Tuesday afternoon, Tsang went to No. 10 Downing Street and had a 30-minute meeting with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, during which they briefed each other on the G20 crisis meeting in Washington and how Hong Kong reacts to the global financial tsunami.

While in London, Tsang will also meet Chairman of the Britain's Financial Services Authority Callum McCarthy to exchange views on the financial crisis among other issues of common interest. He will meet other business and political leaders, academics and the British media to update them on the latest developments in Hong Kong.

On Tuesday evening, Tsang will attend the annual dinner of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council before launching a tourism initiative on Wednesday to promote Hong Kong as destination for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE).

The Chief Executive will leave Britain for Peru in the afternoon of November 20. He will be a speaker at the APEC CEO Summit on the subject of strengthening global free trade and investment.

Tsang is scheduled to return to Hong Kong on November 25.
