The online Sino-American Dialogue Project, sponsored by the China Daily website, began on November 27. The project is aimed at promoting mutual understanding and communication between Chinese and American people. [click to visit the platform]

This is the second phase of the dialogue project. The first phase took place in August and September of this year, and was concerned with Japan/China relations.

During the week, Chinese netizens could go to the Sino-American Dialogue online platform and ask questions about American politics, economics, media, culture and other fields. American elites and ordinary citizens will answer the questions.

Among the online American guests are Michael B. Regan, US Minister Counselor and Consular General in China, David Wu, Oregon state representative, and many China experts from famous US think tanks.

"As China's national power rapidly expands, the Chinese people are eager to communicate with the outside world, so the China Daily website is trying to help our countrymen achieve that goal," said Zhou Xiaopeng, director of the global online department at the China Daily website.

During the Sino-Japanese Dialogue Project, held during August and September of this year, in one week over 1 million Chinese netizens visited the platform and over 2400 questions were raised, focusing on Japan and Sino-Japanese relations.

Chinese media praised the project for helping to strengthen communication between Chinese and Japanese people and showing the positive side of Chinese netizens to the outside world.
