In the Hong Kong Buddhist Cemetery, more than 100 relatives of Fok bid their final farewell to Fok, who died in Beijing at the age of 84 after a long battle with cancer on October 28. His body was flown back to Hong Kong via special plane on October 31.

Representatives from the Chinese central government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government also attended the funeral.

Escorted by police vehicles, hearse carrying the national flag-draped coffin of Fok left Hong Kong Funeral Home at about 11:30 am (0330 GMT) Friday and reached the cemetery at about 11:46 am (0346 GMT).

A brief ceremony was held at the cemetery after Fok's coffin was moved out from the hearse under the gaze of Fok's weeping family and friends. Representatives from the central government folded the national flag that draped on the coffin and transferred it to Fok's family.

Fok was buried according to the Chinese tradition at about 12: 30 (0430 GMT), drawing the last line of Fok's legendary life.

Fok was appraised as "an outstanding public figure, renowned patriot, famous businessman, and intimate friend of the Communist Party of China (CPC)" by an official obituary released by Beijing.
