Newlyweds divorce over wife's medical secret

Updated: 2006-09-13 10:16 The Nanhai District People's Court approved a divorce application from a local husband surnamed Dong who had been married for only 10 days in the city of Foshan, Guangdong Province, on Monday. Dong fell in love with Lian at first sight in August. They were married after dating for only a month. Both refused to take any premarital check-up. In a recent health examination, Dong learnt that Lian had serious thalassaemia, which might affect their children if Lian wanted to give birth. The court immediately ruled in favour of the plaintiff, saying Lian had been wrong to conceal her disease before they married. Both Dong and Lian are residents of Dali Township. Foshan Daily |
