Naked suicide bid stops traffic in Haikou

Traffic was at a standstill in Haikou when a young woman took off all her
clothes and attempted to jump from a pedestrian overpass last Thursday.
The incident took place in the city's Datong Road when the woman stripped off
and told passers-by that she intended to kill herself.
Many motorists and pedestrians stopped to witness the unusual scene and try
to prevent the young woman from killing herself.
Traffic returned to normal when women police arrived at the scene, detaining
and taking away the woman. The young woman later said she made the suicide bid
because she was dumped by her boyfriend and sacked from her job.
