Shanghai ranks first among Chinese provincial regions in terms of per capita disposable income among urban residents, chinanews.com reported Wednesday. Urban residents in the city had an average of 36,230 yuan ($5,683.43) in 2011, followed by Beijing (32,903 yuan) and Zhejiang province (30,971 yuan)

China's National Bureau of Statistics data show that in 2011 China's urban residents' per capita disposable income was 21,810 yuan, which was 14.1 percent higher than 2010. If price factors are deducted, the actual growth rate was 8.4 percent.

In terms of growth rate, 15 provincial regions, including Hainan, Anhui and Guizhou provinces, were above the national growth rate of 14.1 percent.

However, Shanghai, Beijing and Zhejiang were below the national growth rate.
