BEIJING-- A Chinese industry organization on Thursday said it opposed an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy probe application by SolarWorld Industries America Inc, which requested the US government to investigate Chinese exports of solar panels.

The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) said Chinese exports of solar products to the US market were fair.

The SolarWorld Industries America Inc, a major solar cells and panels maker in the United States, filed the complaint to the US International Trade Commission and the US Department of Commerce on Wednesday.

"If the United States decided to launch the probe, it would be the first trade subsidy investigation on China's exports of clean energy products by a foreign trading partner," CCCME spokesman Liu Pengxu said.

"Restriction measures by the US would have a huge impact on China's solar industry. They also risk negatively influencing the development of the world's solar industry," Liu said.

Liu said Chinese solar products makers firmly opposed any form of trade protection measures, and they would also call on the Chinese government to probe the subsidy measures and support policies by the US government on renewable energies.
