Local customs authorities in Yiwu city in eastern China's Zhejiang province have detected more than 10,000 small commodities violating intellectual property rights (IPRs) related to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Since January, 17 World Cup-related IPR-infringement cases have been detected in Yiwu, the world's leading small commodities wholesale market.

The cases involve 116,952 small commodities, including slippers, hats, T-shirts, backpacks and children's clothing worth 1.03 million yuan ($150,587).

In the first five months of the year, Yiwu exported $65.54 million worth of sports goods, up 110 percent over the same period last year.
