Wuliangye Yibin Co Ltd, a market leader in the spirits industry, announced its chairman, Wang Guochun, has given up all his duties in the listed company and will be replaced by Tang Qiao, currently the vice-mayor of Yibin city.

Wang Guochun had been managing Wuliangye from 1985, leading the medium-sized company to become a market leader. But the company's sales growth has slowed down recently because of increasing competition from Moutai, Fen Wine, Swellfun and others. Wang will stay as chairman of Wuliangye Group, the parent of the listed company.
