Air China resumes Beijing-Pyongyang flights
As an Air China flight from Beijing landed in Pyongyang on Monday morning, the Chinese carrier's passenger air services between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have fully resumed after a six-year suspension.
Air China's Beijing-Pyongyang passenger route, first launched in 2008, had been suspended since January 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, Air Koryo resumed flights between Pyongyang and Beijing in August 2023, operating two weekly services.
Now, Air China has reinstated the service with one weekly flight. Flight CA121 departs Beijing at 08:05 am and arrives in Pyongyang at 11:00 am local time, while the return flight CA122 leaves Pyongyang at 12:00 pm and lands in Beijing at 12:55 pm.
Ticket prices currently start at 2,040 yuan ($280).
The move comes as transport links between the two countries have been gradually reopening, with road, rail and air routes now fully restored. According to China State Railway Group, international passenger train services between Beijing, Dandong and Pyongyang resumed on March 12, further supporting exchanges in personnel, economic cooperation and cultural ties between the two countries.
