Former Ningxia chairman Liu Hui expelled from Party
Liu Hui, former chairman of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, has been expelled from the Party for serious violations of discipline and law, China's top anti-graft watchdog said on Thursday.
The investigation found that Liu, also the former deputy director of the committee on education, science, health and sports of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, lost her ideals and betrayed her original mission, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a statement.
The 56-year-old also associated with political fraudsters, anonymously framed others, resisted organizational investigations and engaged in superstitious activities, the statement said.
Furthermore, she accepted banquets that could affect the impartial execution of official duties and improperly accepted travel arrangements. She also failed to report personal matters as required, illegally sought benefits for others in the selection and appointment of cadres, accepted money and gifts in violation of regulations, and used her authority to receive services without compensation over a long period.
What's more, she showed no regard for discipline and law, turning public power into a tool for personal gain, leveraging her position to benefit others in business operations and job arrangements, and illegally accepting a huge amount of property, the statement said.
It added that her illegal gains have been confiscated and her suspected criminal issues have been transferred to the procuratorial organs for legal review and prosecution.
Liu, from the Hui ethnic group, has worked in Ningxia since 1977 and served as chairman of the region from 2013 to 2016.
