Wuxi Symphony Hall and the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory signed a strategic cooperation agreement on March 23, marking the start of a three-year partnership aimed at deepening China-Russia cultural exchange through music.

Under the agreement, the two sides will collaborate on performances, arts education, academic exchange and talent development, fostering a greater sharing of resources.

Founded in 1866, the conservatory is widely regarded as one of the world's most prestigious music institutions, with a strong global influence in music education and artistic creation.

Wuxi Symphony Hall will regularly invite artists from the conservatory to stage concerts in the city and co-produce high-level performances. Professors and musicians will also host masterclasses and academic forums.

Joint cultural events and coordinated international promotion are also planned to expand the global reach of the collaboration.

At the signing ceremony, the Wuxi Symphony Orchestra performed a selection of Russian classics alongside traditional Chinese music, highlighting the harmony and dialogue between the two cultures.

During the event, Wuxi Symphony Hall also unveiled its inaugural music season and opened ticket sales. From May 27 to July 31, nearly 40 performances will be staged, spanning symphony concerts, recitals, vocal and choral works, chamber music and crossover productions.

More than 10 public cultural programs, including lectures, salons and open days, will also be held.

The opening concert on May 27 will feature the world-renowned Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, one of the oldest civic orchestras and among the world's leading symphony ensembles. Conducted by Andris Nelsons, the performance will mark the orchestra's first appearance in a Chinese city outside Beijing and Shanghai.
